You approach the oxen and try to grab the harness, it steps away. The animal is clearly very spooked. Making a second attempt, it rips the harness from your hand and takes on an aggressive stance. Backing away, you decide to investigate the house. You place the handscythe on your belt and step on the porch.
The wooden door flies open. In front of you stands an elderly farmer pointing a blunderbus at your chest.
"What did you do to my wife?"

When prompted further, inform this farmer that I haven't seen her, inquire about my wife (ridiculous, I would never be held down by a woman), make friends, pretend to go on my way, double back and kill the elderly farmer. Loot his house and continue on.

Back up a few steps, raise your hands in a clear sign that you're not armed nor are you going to harm him and say "I'm sorry sir, but you must be confusing me with someone else. I haven't seen or touched your wife. I heard a woman scream and I came to investigate. I'm guessing your wife is the woman I heard. What's wrong?"
