recently i came up with a strange problem.......... whatever games i try to run, i experience lags and hitches while playing; hell, i even experience it with 2 to 3 years old games. Until the last few days, things went real smooth. my PC is clean and virus free, i even use the TUNE UP UTILITIES and REGCURE. any suggestions ???. Thanks.

Your HDD might be getting old. I'm having the same problem because my HDD is about 5 or so years old. Otherwise it may just be nearly full, that also seems to slow me down. (Or at least that's according to my techie)

Do you defrag at least once a month?

Also try getting Advanced System Care. It sped up my PC by quite a bit.

Registry Cleaners actually don't gain much performance. Even one where you delete 1000+ registry entries and defrag the registry, it's still only like a 5% gain idealistically.

The problem lies in particular if you're lagging in single player or online mode.

    If your lagging online:
    -Check network connections.
-Check for network intensive programs (torrents) and turn them off or severely limit the upload rate.

If it lags all the time:
-Something might be hogging CPU cycles and not enough is getting to your game
-Your system may have accumulated dust and may be hotter than usual. Cleaning it out will be good.
-In rare cases, you may have an application that's demanding a lot of GPU cycles. Turn it off if this is the case.
    -Check drivers (specifically GPU)
-Check in-game settings to see if they got buffed up unexpectically.

Follow these instructions to do a clean boot to determine if some other software is eating up resources:

And it might it be a cooling problem, I had this until I changed my GPU. So check your cooling systems on each of the components.
    For Macaragge.

Thanks for all the help guys, really appreciate it. Though i noticed that my PSU is only 450W. I currently use an 8800GT, 4GB RAM, Core 2 DUO E8400, 750GB HDD and it's really loaded. Out of a total 698GB, i have only 208GB left space. I think may be it's a problem with power supply or inadequate HDD space. Again, Thank you all for the efforts. Peace.

208GB free? HDD space may not be the problem then. By inadequate space I meant below 50G or so.

Yea I wouldn't worry about HD space just yet, you still have more free than I have total
