    Agreed with Ev..Antivirus means trouble,not running games,blah blah mother****in' blah.I don't have an Anti-Virus on my win7,but I use Linux for the serious stuff,which means I don't need an Anti-Virus at all.

I haven't used a paid AV for... well, I don't remember how long ago, so that says something. I used ZoneAlarm back in the day, but have used Avast AnVir for the last several years. I've never had a serious infection, and the small things have been easy to remove. If you're having problems with false positives, it's easy to add exceptions for any file too so you can run without problem.

I'm not saying paid AV's aren't worth it, but, as I said, I've never had a serious infection or problems with a free one.

You can find reviews for most, if not all, AV's/Firewalls/etc on the web somewhere. Read up on them and if you like what you hear give it a try. You can always switch to another.

In terms of reviews, find ones written by actual users. You can never be totally sure "official" reviews haven't been influenced by "incentives" for a good review.

A really good free AV would be Microsoft Security Essentials. Avast! recently let me down so I no longer trust it. Same with AVG and NOD32.

People cannot complain about getting viruses if they're using the free versions of any of the Anti-Virus products. Purchase the products. Free technical support & full protection. AVG Internet Security works very well these days and I find it doesn't slow my PC down like Kaspersky or McAfee! Another good product is PrevX. It's new and can won't replace your current anti-virus. It finds all bad files on your PC! check it out: www.prevx.com/

Never heard of this. There are a lot of good free antivirus/ firewalls (avast, antivir, avg).

You need to think about AVG once again...

I know that AVG has some problems but i think it's a trustworthy antivirus. Personally I use Eset security.

It's time to play the game!

I suggest either avira free or avast free. Both are equally good, but avira finds more false positives.

Microsoft security essentials has no paid version, and was designed by Microsoft who, hey, also designed windows. So it's probably better than a lot of AV's, paid or not.

Just because you pay for something, does not automatically make it good.
