The line at the airport is no more than security theater. If someone wants to bomb a plane, they're going to do it. We increased security after 9/11, someone hid a bomb in their shoe. So, now we have to take off our shoes. Someone tried to make a bomb out of fluids, so no we can't take liquids on the plane, and now someone tried to blow up his jollies, so now we're forced to pat-downs or x-rays.

Real security can never be accomplished with random screenings based on what the last guy tried.

Where were the parents? Was it so hard to detach the teddy bear from their kid without her having a fit?

I believe some images came to light recently that were taken from those machines you go through at airports when employees are not supposed to save them. They were low res but still..
Also from what I've been reading TSA doesn't do good background checks, it's a pervert's perfect job I guess.

    Oh and Link

Trust is a fragile thing. Once trust is lost, it can be impossible to recover. Those we're closest to can betray us,and total strangers can come to our rescue. In the end, most people decide to trust only themselves. It really is the simplest way to keep from getting burned.

The parents were likely in the 'It's for the safety of our country' mindset, rather than the more appropriate 'our country is treating us like garbage and I should question it' mindset'

    This is nothing new.

Years ago, when I used to go to France with my mother, we took the EuroTunnel (Do you kids still call it that?) and my sister and I always had a pillow each in the back, plus teddies and stuff like that. They always checked the pillows and some toys.

Granted, they were better at screening things, so it wasn't too much of an issue. The girl's parents should have handled it better. Security is important but upsetting children isn't necessary.

Or the kid is a spoiled brat and wants and usually gets everything her way.

But saying that, it had to be done, as said by someone children were used a lot in Iraq, like the olde boy who asks for the ball to be kicked to him, either there is an IED under the ball or there is a sniper out of sight until you goto kick the ball.

And in the some cases in the past they had children in Israel and good chance all over the troubled states who had vest bombs.

It's gross.I agree with Insomniac, these airport security stuff aren't anything but "Boo,you can't bomb us,got it?!" while there are a million ways to do terrorist stuff.9/11 messed the whole world up,this one was one of the consequences.

well seeming a "pat down" includes the groin area, why not file a lawsuite afterwards for "sexual harassment"

I think it's because of the "it's for our country's security" view that ppl mentioned...
