Call of Duty: Black Ops Discussion

I think it's a game/steam issue. I'm no fan of steam. I pay for my games so it's not a piracy issue, merely resentment at having to maintain an account with them and suffer their continuing existence in order to continue to use games that I have spent a ton of money on. I know it's said that steam has nothing whatsoever to do with crashes but this incomplete/segmented installation routine simply couldn't provide the seamless smoothness of an unbroken direct installation.
Hard to believe that a P5ND deluxe with a 3 gig core 2 quad, an 8800GT and 4 gigs of ram with all drivers current could present such challenges to a developer. I'm not willing to believe that the crashes are the trainer, either. I've been using Caliber's trainers for years on many games and they have been consistently bulletproof (if you'll forgive the figure of speech.) Oh well, time and updates will tell, I suppose. Turok was a bit cranky at first so I guess the kinks'll get ironed out of Black Ops eventually. Sigh.
