Hey guys, I don't know if any of you are youtube commentators or even listen to them, I'm mainly thinking of commentating over gameplay such as CoD, Halo and all of that good stuff. So I'm thinking of going into it, I love gaming, doing well, and sharing the tips and tricks to help my friends on how to do well within the game. Maybe this isn't the most original idea, and I'm wracking my brain trying to think of a neich in the community at the moment. If any of you guys would like to see something, mostly Call of duty based then please let me know. Are you interested in learning how to do consistently well in any game mode, with different spots, lines of sight and all of that, or I have a few games along the lines of 105-7 demolition and things like that. What would you suggest as a HD personal recorded also, if you think I should attempt it? Any respones will be helpful, thanks.

Do you mean a youtube blogger?

If yes, then I say go for it! Youtube bloggers are cool and fun to watch imo.

No offense, but commentating on gaming reminds me of talk shows and golf, both put me to sleep. You would be targeting a specific audience too, commentate on how bad McDonald's is then I'll support your idea to the fullest

You need to have an extremely high level understanding of the meta-game and whatnot to make a good commentator. I'm not talking about "Above Average" or "I think I'm good enough" but you need to be like either good enough to be marked professional status universally. A huge part of commentaries especially ones that try to make players better is not to tell them what to do, but why they should do it.

Day[9] provides a very good way on showing how you commentate on games except his game is StarCraft 2. (and the reason he does a very good job was that he played extensively and has an extremely high rank and has done extremely well in professional tournaments). Nonetheless, how he commentates the game itself is a very good framework of how a good commentary of games should be done.

Here's a really good example (this is like an hour long so grab some popcorn if you want to watch the whole thing through):
