This game gets 9.5/10 from me due to somewhat "bad" voice acting. Other than that its a great game.

You know... after playing for rather a lot more hours, I can't help feeling like sometimes I'm playing a game which is the lovechild of Gothic 3 and Assassins Creed... such as a Gothic 3 character, fighting Gothic 3 enemies with Gothic 3 weapons in Assassins Creeds game world.

I feel the need to nitpick too... The inventory is starting to kind of bug me... the icons are unneccessarily large, like reading a childrens book where the words are huge so you can learn to read them, and having to sell/confirm one item at a time instead of a whole stack is plain annoying after you start to pick up loads of useless stuff. >.<

yeah i have to agree with the complaints abouts about the interface. Selling is real pain in the arse. Im currently playing as a pure-ish warrior as get to know the ins and outs of the game and so far, ive fallen in love with polearms. the large reach and damage that they do is great for taking out lots of mobs at once.

One thing that i due wish was put would be the option to show the levels of monsters and enemies. Not having a level to show how powerful some mobs are make for alot of trial by fire encounters. Ive also found that as a warrior i should always have 1 Slashing weapon (spear, sword, polearm etc) and 1 Blunt weapon ( maces, some axes etc) in order to be effective against different enemies.

example, against a stone statue mob, slashing weapons suck, but blunt weapons make short work of them.

I'm not sure if things are any different with keyboard/mouse since I'm using a controller, but I'm able to turn off the annoying confirmation for each sell in the settings, plus if I hold down LB it will sell the whole stack that is highlighted. Check out the options in the bottom left when you mouse over a stack. The icons remind me of the giant numbers on those phones they used to have for some weird reason.

All in all I've been pretty happy with the game so far, I've learned to not compare games to others because it just seems pointless, take it for what it is. As with others in this thread, I agree that the voice acting is terrible, but overall I think it's a refreshing experience that stands on its own merit and although I'm only a few hours in, it seems like a massive world that you could spend countless time exploring if you so desire. It's the perfect diversion for when my brain is about to explode from too much Call of Duty.

Does anyone have any info on the FOV?

I run games @ 1680x1050 and certain games are unplayable to the point were they make you feel sick.

Anyway, is it a good FOV for widescreens and if not, can it be hacked?

    Thanks.

After buying the game today and playing it, and the annoying have to activate it twice after install and once at start of chapter 1 >.< (hope it doesnt ask again for chapter 2)

I see people were right about the main characters voice, but I also noticed something about the voice, I do believe its the same voice as used for Max Payne, could be wrong will have to check up on that :P

One thing that is really bugging me just now is the glow effect im constantly getting, its like someone turned up the contrast fully >.<

Positives though the engine is designed well and doesn't need a kick ass system to run smoothly. But damn that glow >.<

interface is awful.. looks like something from 2002.

the voice acting isnt that bad.. its the character movements during the dialogue sequences that really make me cringe (what's with the arms moving "up" everytime they say something stronger?!).

i also think i encountered one bug... i was killing Grows(sp?) and tried sneaking up on a few for the assassination thing... the icon would show up, but spacebar wouldnt do anything.

i also think the lockpicking mini game is way too easy.

last bad thing: i cant find the use for shields. the blocking in this game just doesnt work like oblivion for instance. "block" doesn't even make your character put up his shield.

okay.. really last bad thing: archery is overkill in this game. you can mostly kite things around until they die. the targeting system is also awful. it does the stupid console thing where the target reticle just locks on to the target. on a pc this is pathetic... the game doesnt even aim right 80% of the time.

still, this is a good, deep, game. id give it a 8.5/10
