I need to do a mock pitch for a feature film based on a histortical event. Seeing as my knowlege of history in general is pretty limited I was wondering if anyone has any ideas on what I could do it about.

It can be any event no matter how insignifcant, any help at would be appricated.

An adventure/comedy about the Monmouth Rebellion. Smith Smithfield of Smithsvale is a young, and bumbling, English nobleman who is swept to war on the side of James Scott, First Duke of Monmouth and has a slew of adventures. Perhaps he looks quite a bit like Monmouth himself and is accidentally the subject of one of the many coronations which took place--perhaps to link it to Monty Python it happens at Taunton and he comments that "isn't Taunton historically part of Minehead already?" He meets Daniel Dafoe. He accidentally allows Bristol to be occupied by Somerset. He uses his appearance to escape before Sedgemoore, and disguises himself as a gypsy prostitute. Thinking he is safe, he then is caught up in the Bloody Assizes and transported to North America, where he meets Errol Flynn (who played Captain Blood, the character was transported during the Bloody Assizes) who helps him get a job in Hollywood.

What's that knocking?

I think it's a little golden man named Oscar.

Guy Fawkes would be a little cliche, wouldn't it?

How about a bildungs roman centered around the Siege of Famagusta, 1570-1571?

A young Venetian peasant stows away on a boat, which heads for Cyprus. He fights in the battles versus the Turk! And sees Bradigan flayed alive. And learns valuable life lessons.
