I just finished the game, with the Independent Vegas way of doing things. But how do I continue to play? I can't? I load my save, and its before the last mission.....

Once you finish on of the final missions you cant do anything after it. Hence why I am doing each way separate from each other

Oh, thought they would have learned from F3.

Except that Fallout 3 was much more straight forward in the choices you make for the end scenario. Vegas is so convoluted during the factions choices, as the quests pop-up during certain points in the game you reach, that it is maddening. Ultimately in Fallout 3, you get the fresh water supply going at the end as per the desire of Lone Wanderer's father. But the ending is clear cut in F3 at least and it can be made right there. The other side quest are not tied to the main quest in Fallout 3.

Not in Vegas where you have to side with a faction during points in the main quest, where you will see many side quest related get killed so you continue on with the choices you make for that certain faction. At least in Fallout 3, the main quest-line is clear cut in gaining achievements as well, whereas in Vegas you have to literally play-out 5 different faction choices to get five different ending achievements. Hopefullly you have a save where you can start again without having to play the whole game through again.

Also the side quest you do in Fallout 3 are completely separate from the main quest, where in Vegas when you make a choice during certain faction ventures, certain quests will fail.

IMO, this was a very poor choice in making how the game gives the achievements let alone confusing the storyline choices during gameplay.

The Endings my god the terrible endings. It seems no matter what you do your character gets a vague ending and others get better. The wild card ending doesn't even reflect how you seized power.

New Vegas Nexus has a mod that allows free roam after the ending, but you're better off saving the main quest line for later if you want to explore/side quest, or else some things wont be available for you to experience

They also said that none of the DLC's for Vegas will take place after the ending of the main quest line, meaning, they won't add the ability to play after the game ends in any DLC like they did for FO3.

So the only option for that is the New Vegas Nexus (main site for mods), a mod will be the only way most likely to play after the main quest ends.
