One of my younger friends is about to buy a console (and finally upgrade from only PC gaming) and isn't sure on what to get.

I personally don't believe that the Wii is even in the same league as the 360 and PS3 but that very well could be purely for the fact that i've only ever played it once, and i was plastered at the time.
Either that or the Wii is as crap as i believe it to be.

Just looking for a rough comparison and vote between the 3, details and pro's/con's would be good aswell.
Normally i'd just look up the info for myself and make a decision based on that but i think the voice of CHU should be heard..
Will be good to see, i plan on upgrading to a 360 or PS3 for myself sometime in the near future also. Until then, PS2 FTW.

Edit: I voted PS3 purely for the reason that i owned a 360 for a fair while and haven't really had much to do with PS3 gameplay, only played about 10mins worth of it. Something new's always exciting.

Buying a console is actually a significant downgrade from PC Gaming.

But I say a Wii.

He's got a PC, so he's got the best gaming platform.

So, get the best party platform--the Wii.

I've never been one to use a PC for gaming.

I guess in a sense the Wii would be good for a party platform in our type of party environment anyway..
Cheap to replace.
It'd last a few months then need to be repaired/replaced from alcohol or other random liquids being spilled on it.

I think he is after one for serious gaming though.. Doesn't seem to think the PC is the best gaming platform. Must be over it.

well...as Dhampy said..pc gaming's awesome. between the 360 and wii and ps3..i'd say ps3 mostly because they have the most responsive motion control system now although wii was probably first on that scene.

The Wii's the way to go. If he doesn't like the party games that the Wii has to offer, then he's still got all the former Nintendo consoles as a fallback since the Wii's the most backwards compatible console out there.

If he's really into RPGs then you might wanna consider a PS3, but I'd recommend an older version that is still backwards compatible.

The 360 because it has the best games.

PS3, The exclusive games are beyond excellent.
Also I love the controllers of this console, light as feather.

I agree with this. He's already got a great single player gaming system. His pc will run anything that comes out for both Ps3 and Xbox.

It really depends on what he'll be using it for. If he likes to entertain people, or just play funny/entertaining games, then the Wii it is.

If he wants another hard core gaming system, then one of the other two. If he decides this, then he'll just have to weigh the pros and cons between the two.
