I do not own this game so I am unsure though those programs are usually installed as a Windows Service. You can go into msconfig and click on the Service's tab and click on "Hide All Microsoft Services" to see if one is installed. Though I'm fairly sure the problem is with McAfee. You will have to disable the program completely to rule out this isn't the cause (may have to uninstall to properly run. McAfee doesn't have very good user override controls).
--------------------------------------------------------------------------- Your bitterness, I will dispel
Snagged FO:NV from steam + all 3 DLCs and trainer activates but options do not work. When I try to run it in admin mode it just disappears. Any idea why? I've checked file version and it matches up perfectly to trainer version. Thanks
Same here, I just bought it yesterday because of the quake con sale. Same issue...trainer activates, options say they turn on, but the desired effect doesn't happen.
To everyone who just installed the game / DLCs during the sale: The trainer may be malfunctioning because your install is corrupt. - Open your Steam Library and right-click on the games logo. - Select PROPERTIES - Click the tab marked LOCAL FILES - Click VERIFY INTEGRITY OF CACHE (and be careful what you click, the button is directly next to the button that will delete your game)
If you're lucky you are only missing a few DLLs, sadly most people are missing nearly 700 megs of files.
Does anyone know if there will be an update for the new DLC?
Fallout New Vegas DLCs are nothing more than large mods (that you pay for), so installing them does not alter the games files in a way that affects the trainer because they are self-contained in their own BSAs.
Does the initial game file edit before you leave the docs house still work for getting steam achievements? Or have the patches caught on to that workaround?
