I have been trying to load Generals and Generals 0 Hour onto my new Windows 7 OS. Each time the game will not play. I also tried to load my C&C First Decade discs with no luck. Can anyone advise if/how to play these games on Windows 7?? Thanks

In windows 7 : Right click on Computer, then properties.
    After that advanced system settings.
Then go to Tab: Advanced (In system Properties), click on the settings button in performance.
Go to Tab: Data Execution Prevention and Add the game.exe to be excluded from DEP.
    That could do the trick.

Or Right click on your Shortcut from the game.
Go to properties - Compatibility - Run this program in compatibility mode for....well make a choice: windows xp or windows vista.

    Hope this will help.

    Regards, Mick

heck you dont even need to add all that in.

All i did to make it work after like half a day surfing and trying to find out how to make it work i just looked at my mates files and then found the one i needed

After installing the game (dont worry about doing any of that compatibility stuff in the exe)

all you do is in my documents make a folder
    Command and Conquer Generals Data
    and
Command and Conquer Generals Zero Hour Data

then in each of them make a untitled.txt folder

rename it as options.ini and you're done

start the game and boom youre in worked for me fine

Actually, I tried it on Windows 7 a long time ago. I safely say that most of the games work normally. The only exceptions to that are C&C: Tiberian Sun, its expansions and below. Those work with a hyper speed cause of the hardware nowadays.
