"much bigger chance of dropping in a 4 player co-op game."
If this is true then why cant they add a feature in the trainer that makes it believe that there are 4 players or more and thus increasing the drop rate even when you play single player.
I've played around with the ini files of Sacred2 and by doing that the drop rate of better items improved alot. So it should not be impossible to find the set values for this in any game imo.

Not sure if the steam version can do this. You can have four games running at the same time on one comp with a single disc. I do it all the time. I use it more so to create optimal as minimal cheating as possible squads. Say two soldiers with ammo regen and a hunter with +X team scavenge items. But nothing saying you can't use full trainer and 3 hunters with +5 team scavenge items.

I can do it as well, and have done it to kill Crawmerax a couple of times.
My rig is far from a beast. Intel E6600 2 Core Duo (just 2.4Ghz) 6GB DDR2 Ram Nvidia GTX 260
You don't need much, honestly. Just make sure that you lower the graphical detail to a minimal (can keep Resolution, I do) and clear your active programs before starting Borderlands. For example as I have a dozen or more tabs on my FireFox in use, some of them to Youtube or such sites, it alone takes almost 600MB of my RAM and a few % of my CPU, constantly.

something is terriblly wrong with your computer. stop using firesux, use chrome, much lighter, 600MB are you sure?
ithink you have ether overflow of viruses on your computer or you sould realy use an enhancment program such as tuneup utilities. are you runing 7 xp or vista? ihave allote of crap open together with the game and my suckish 4years old cpu is in 50%, i have 4GB ddr3 ram, nvidia 9500gt(1G grafic ram), 2 screens working simultaniosly bouth high resolution, hd and stuff on ofcours all on win7. and if i might ask you have you checked that your power supply even support the GTX 260? its a power eating monster.

I was able to get percelent weps by exploiting the end reward of claptrap's revolution. The chests reset every 2-3 in-game days. keep hitting the reward room and eventually you can get one or more. From what I'm reading i was pretty dang lucky to find at least 10 of them with one character. and this was before i got the trainer. interestingly enough, when i kill Crawmaraxx i didn't single one

Someone made a program that would trick the game into thinking you had more than 1 person playing. I used it for a while then it corrupted my brick character. Lost him entirely because the very presence of his save file was causing the game to crash every time I went to load.
Can't remember what it's called. Google for it and use at your own risk.
