No, I'm a huge ME2 fan but just no. I didn't feel TOO amazed with it. Fallout will steal this, I believe.
After the likes of Alpha Protocol, I am beginning to think Obsidian is a joke to the gaming industry. So they will surely do the same for Fallout New Vegas too...Let's just wait and watch.
*Eats popcorn*
They can't do that with Fallout. They were spoon fed what to do from Fallout 3.
In all honesty, knowing Obsidian, they just might manage to ruin Fallout: NV. I don't see how, with their track record, they're still around. Even if they do make NV amazing, and even if it does win Game Of The Year, I still think they could very well be working on their last chance project.
By spoon fed, I think its the engine the game is going to be based on. All the game mechanics, the UI is going to be identical to that of Fallout 3.
But did we miss out the essence of RPG's? The story, the exchange of dialogues between characters and the effects that take place, based on our decisions. I think Obsidian reserves the capacity to mess this up.
Go get a copy of Alpha Protocol. And I am pretty sure you will get my point.

On the other direction conversation is going; I found myself actually enjoying Alpha Protocol to my own surprise. The story was great, it was just lacking in the gameplay department. Fortunately, a couple of options in the trainer made the game quite playable and enjoyable. It's a bad sign when its the trainer which makes a game playable, but ah well.
I forsee a good outcome with FO:NV (hope or confidence? I don't actually know). I mean, you can't really go wrong with Fallout in general (no one mention that steaming pile of console turd-polish Brotherhood of Steel ¬.¬).

"Not right now. Trying to determine how Scale Itch got aboard. Sexually transmitted disease carried only by Varren..... Implications unpleasant." - Mordin, ME2
Except Splinter Cell: Conviction and Bioshock 2 other games have this potential to get the vote, or even becomes the best game of the year. That's really difficult to choose, IMO Red Dead Redemption, Mafia II, ME 2 and GoW 3.
Mass Effect 2 blew me away. It was absolutely amazing, and I think it deserve game of the year.
Otherwise I'd like to see Reach win it.
