The only thing I don't understand is why the Max Unit XP cheat was removed. That actually worked just fine.
Any chance that might be put back in?
If you take a look at the XML files in .../assets/Gameplay/XML you can generally find workarounds for some of the missing trainer options. For example, using Russia I was able to work around the Max XP option by doing the following:
1) Find 'BUILDING_KREPOST' in CIV5Buildings.xml in assets/Gameplay/XML/Buildings 2) Look for the block: BUILDING_KREPOST DOMAIN_LAND 15
3) Change the 'Experience' number to however much experience you want to be added to the unit, and repeat for 'DOMAIN_SEA' and 'DOMAIN_AIR'
Because the Krepost is a special building limited only to Russians I can be sure that other civilizations won't get the same benefit (so long as you don't play against another Russia) and the Krepost can be built after researching only 2 technologies. This is just an example, but the XML files make it easy to modify the game to your liking (I also UNfixed the Helicopter Gunships being able to capture cities...)
I guess I'll have to take a closer look at the xml files. Thanks for the info.
Too many updates and too many complaints. Take your pick. No plans to bring back any of the removed options.
Well, that's too bad. The only options I seemed to have trouble with are the "Remove Unit Damage" and Policy Points. The Remove Unit Damage option never seemed to work, and the Policy Points Option only works on the first turn, and never after that. Now, I have an AMD CPU, so I don't know if that has anything to do with it or not. I know that sometimes, programs written on one brand of CPU will react differently on another brand.
As for the plethora of patches that Steam has come out with, I too, am greatly disappointed. The thing that puzzles me is I had set my game to NOT update, yet it did, for some reason install the hotfix. A fix MY game didn't need. So basically, I blame Steam for this.
For some reason the trainer doesn't seem to be working for me. Running a fully patched Steam version of the game, pressing F1 does absolutely nothing at all. It's as if the game isn't running.
For those of you who like to use the Policy Points cheat, here's a bit of advice. Don't take your policy points above 700,000.
So far, if I get any policy that gives me a free policy, and if by some chance, I already have all the policies I can get, you'll get stuck in the cycle. It won't let you get out of taking a policy before ending the turn. While you can escape the regular "choose policy" cycle, you can't as long as you have a free one coming.
I know, as a test, I ran my policy points up to 1 million on the first turn, since the policy point cheat doesn't appear to work after the first turn. (Yes, it took a while, and I saved that first turn after each session of adding policy points.)
Anyway, the free policy is the one hangup I've seen so far. I'm going to try running policy points up to 700k, and see how that works.
You guys are very quick, I thought it would be here in a couple of days.
