i also have the startup problem with the trainer. win7 64bit. have tryied everything. the trainer askes me to use ffshow.. ?
FFShow can be found inside the Combined Community Codec Pack which is a free download (Google "CCCP" ). It will also give you the additional benefit of being able to play several additional media files with Windows Media Player (or whatever Media Player you use).
If this does not help, please consult the Trainer Troubleshooting Guide.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------- Your bitterness, I will dispel
From the good old TRAINER TROUBLESHOOTING GUIDE that people continue to ignore.
Is your sound card functioning? Some trainers, especially those produced by our site, require windows sounds to be functioning correctly or the trainer may crash or fail to run. Make sure your sound card is working properly, not muted, etc. You may also need to download and install the Combined Community Codec Pack (search Google), espeically if you are getting an on/off sound when activating the trainer or its options.

I have found that Trainer 1.0.0.17 (DX9+DX11) works with Civ 5 retail/steam with no problems (Win7 64, UK). The .0.7 version just crashed the game; as many feverish Civ fans have reported. I am truly amazed at the speed of the people (sorry I don’t know their names) at Cheathappens to get this patched trainer uploaded here, under pressure from members. Whoever you are at Cheathappens may I say thank you very much for a difficult job well done.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------- I tried playing a PC game once, without a trainer;........it was an awful experience!
