Let me clue some of you clueless people in on something -- when the game PATCHES, the TRAINER MUST BE UPDATED. This does not mean that the trainer = FAIL, it means that YOU = FAIL for not reading the instructions and matching the trainer up with the game. Note #2 is that we don't sit on the edge of our seats at 3am waiting for every game in the world to patch so we can update the trainer 30 seconds later. Note #3 is that we don't need 475,000 people YELLING that there is a patch available and the trainer needs updating. Every time we have to come back here and read another "FIX THE TRAINER!!!!!!!EYT*$^^!Q!" post, that's less time that we get to actually spend updating the trainer.
Now, the new trainer has been posted so all is well in the world again, back to DEFCON1 until the next patch.
Let them whine, Don't listen to the crying babies. You are doing a great job
I found a cool trick that helps to avoid entering and exiting a city excessive amounts of times (or possibly altogether).
Select the city, enter into it, and activate a trainer hotkey like "Reduce Research" time.
As soon as it says "activated" left mouse click the "city center" button as many times as you can (spam it quick).
The end result is like you enter and exit the city multiple times without having to do so. You can register several turn reductions each time you do this.
After you do this trick you have to exit the city re-enter and than do the same trick again. It is great for reducing massive research times on big big buildings.
This trick also works for population and units too.
Hope it helps
Don't normally do this, but I posted this right when they did the update last night and I think it got buried.
It is very helpful way to avoid entering/leaving city excessively.
Enjoy
WORK AROUND TRICK FOR UPDATE: The new update removed this manual assignment of worker buttons (and city center auto assign button).
So the new trick I found is you have to click the "Manual Specialist Control" buttons on the right side of the screen inside the city management window (Located in the "Specialist Buildings" drop down box)
If you spam these little buttons after doing building research trainer hotkey, it has the same effect.
With 1 trainer hotkey click and some quick specialist button mashing you can reduce like 20+ turns per trainer hotkey.

Actually in the case of this game you must also uncheck Steam Cloud to keep it from auto updating - with Steam Cloud checked the game is forced auto update regardless of if you select Do Not Auto Update (it will always restore it to Auto Update) - Simply Select Do Not Auto Update and uncheck use Steam Cloud on the same screen, then it will always stay "Do Not Update" even after you quit and restart Steam.
This is how every Steam Cloud enabled game works.
