This is a two-part topic so pay attention people it might get a little crazy in here.
Part One: What do YOU mean when you write acronyms such as lol?
Part Two: How do you interpret it when others write these acronyms?
Acronyms and variations of such acronyms include, but are not limited to:
lol
lol!
LOL
lmao
LMAO
I will start by posting what I mean by these five, then I will give you what I think people mean when they write these five.
What I mean:
lol: I say this usually when something puts a smile on my face, usually what was read was not very funny. I also might say this when I have nothing else to say.
lol!: Same as before but with the added exclamation point. This usually means something made me chuckle or very small laugh.
LOL: Once again, same as the first two but with all capitalization instead. This usually means I read something that was quite funny, heavy chuckle or small laugh.
lmao: Depends on the situation but it is probably the same as number three, LOL.
LMAO: This is used when I read something that is very funny. Something that makes me laugh, more than a chuckle.
Alright, well now that I'm done with that I'm going to say two more things to you dear reader.
1) Once again, the list is not limited to these five. If you use more or see more, then by all means add them to your list. You also do not need to include all of these if you don't want to.
2) As you may have noticed, I did not include my interpretation of these five when other people use them. I put that in there in the first place for you dear topic viewer if you would like to include that into your post. I chose not to.

As for everyone else, it's really dependant on who's doing the loling, but every time I see "LOL" I immediately think of a laugh akin to that of a mentally challenged person. Not sure why...

I only use lol out of all the internet slang, but when I use lol it normally can mean a couple of things a)What I just said was not meant to be taken seriously b)I grinned, or smiled c)By some rear chance you actually made me laugh.

lol- I didn't smile but sometimes it's funny, but still didn't smile. lol- I smiled. LOL- I smiled more than the previous lol. lmao/LMAO- I was about to laugh aout loud LMFAO- I acually laughed a little hhhhhh- Same as the first lol or 2nd lol. hhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh- same as lmao.
