It doesn't say how much the Glyptodon/Volkswagen Beetle thing weighs anyway, the 8 tons is for the Megatherium.

Megatherium would have shared South America with other animals like the Sabre tooth cats, human sized carnivorous flightless birds and armadillos that were so big that the spiky club on the end of their tail was the size of a cannonball...

Give some love to the other animals...
