Amnesia: The Dark Descent Message Board  

I just wish something could be done about the flickering and disappearing arm glitch with the latest update to Amnesia. The trainer refuses to work and the framerate drops from whatever cap its at to like 10fps or lower....totally unplayable. Windows 7 64bit with no antivirus running

Would love to see a fix for this. Love CH and love Amnesia. Hopefully I can play with both again.

So i stopped using the trainer because of the latern flickering problem. It's fine. But earlier in my save i had turned on the super health option. But it seems that it stayed on, even though i'm not using the trainer. This means that i can't die. Which would be cool except there is a part of the storyline where you have to "die" in order to proceed. Anyone found a way around this problem? Or faced it, even?

Arg, I hate this so much. I don't understand why the lantern flickers anyway...

If you open the savegame file and search for mlTinderboxes
a few rows above that is an entry called mfHealth the value
for me right now after using the trainer is 9999380.000000
change that to something more resonable like 99.xxxxxx using 6 decimals, think that should do the trick

Save game file is found under(in win 7) c:\users\[username]\Documents\Amnesia and is called something like autosave_BackHall_yyyy_mm_d_t_mm_s it is a text file.

Step one
Start game in Win 7 64 bit launcher should show
First tab Quality: Custom Language / English
Second tab Resolution: 1024x768 [4:3] / Texture Quality : High / Shadow Quality: Medium / Shadow Resolution: Medium
Third step press Launch game button
Forth step Start new game and retrieve lantern
Fifth step Start trainer by pressing F1 then pull out the lantern
When the lantern has been pulled out flicker should begin to happen when the player enters the hallway

Wondering if anyone has found a workaround for this error? I love this game, but the appearing-disappearing lantern flicker makes it unplayable. Played it plenty without a trainer, just would love the trainer to mess around for a bit.

Just started this game today and wanted to try out the full game as I tried the demo long ago.
I notice the lantern flicker as I enter into the main-hall (After getting the lantern) I notice my lantern and arms flicker as many comments above have mention. It been a long time since anyone commented. So I was wondering if anyone found a way round this? or should I try to play it without the unlimited oil..?
