You illustrate my point beautifully. Mass media needs wacko morons to record and thrust down our throats in order to satisfy the 24 hour market. They luuuurrrve it. And we do to. Otherwise we wouldn't be watching it.

You mean, the success of Islam is illustrated by the frequency of burnings? I've never been to a Muslim country, but I'm amazed you can breathe with all the fumes from those fires. Sounds a bit like a Christian illustration of hell...

Because there's some other, equally dumb thing to obsess about all over the airwaves, and whatever people were freaking out about before fades into the background.

If that's how you want to see it, they're obscure to start off with and really never cease to be so.

Maybe the "unimportant" part of that definitions fits, but when some stupid thing is all over the news, it can't really be "unknown." Informed (>_>) people are going to know what you're talking about even if it's just for that day that thing is in the news.
This is just like drawing Muhammad PBUH (except this time, it's a LOT worse).
I'm sure Christians won't be happy if Muslims burn Bibles.
The vast majority of Christians wouldn't care any more than if you went around burning any other book.
