You guys probably all know by now, but the long awaited Ranger Pack for the PC has been released. Some people have been saying on the Steam forum they have been having a few problems with the game after the download (such as crashes), but so far touch wood I've been okay. It should be a 93MB patch.

It's pretty cool so far, doesn't add that much but it's a free update (EXE changed so the trainer needs to be updated to it if there's any plans to keep supporting the game.) and I haven't replayed the game since I first finished it.

If no one has heard about the pack, this what it consists of:

The ‘Ranger Pack’ adds new weapons, new achievements and the deadly ‘Ranger Mode’ game rules. In standard Ranger Mode, ammo is dramatically reduced and all weapons and attacks cause more damage. Your foes are deadlier than ever – but then, so are you...

‘Ranger Hardcore’ adds an additional challenge as the HUD is totally removed, creating the most immersive Metro 2033 experience yet.

Rise to the challenge with two new weapons – the Heavy Automatic Shotgun, and the Volt Driver, Miller’s signature gun.


After playing through the game for a 3rd time, this time on the Ranger Hardcore mode (without cheating), I would too hope that an updated trainer will be made, as I would like to not have to face a Black Librarian again with only a handful of shells left!

Ranger mode difficulty is awesome (and no... don't use trainers with this one - it ruins the point of it) ... they should of included this option from start. Good thing it's there now.
