Microsoft is raising the price of a year of LIVE by $10. The reason? They now have Facebook, Twitter, and other social crap.
Funny, I don`t recall ever asking them to give me something my laptop can do far easier and better.
Well, as far as I`m concerned Microsoft can kiss my ass. I`m leaning towards a Playstation for the next gen of consoles now. I`m not going to pay an extra $10 for something I don`t have any wish to use.

The fact they charge anything at all for something the PSN does far better and for free proves that M$ earns the dollar sign replacement of the S.
Though the fact that consoles are trying to become home multipurpose pseudo-PCs is insulting considering PCs are the only multipurpose gaming machine to ever exist and shall ALWAYS be the superior multi-purpose internet-enabled machine.
But I digress, yes, M$ is greedy as all hell now. Pulling an Apple by the looks of it (360 Slim? Price increase for online services? Just what Steve Jobs would do if Apple had an iGame...). Wonder when M$ is going to rerelease the next 360 Micro-Mini-Ultra-Bright-Hot-Pink-Super-Deluxe-Same-Exact-Thing-As-Before-But-Just-As-Expensive-To-Boot?

I like how the ten dollar bump in price is what sets you off, but not all the other bogus crap that Microsoft does to turn a profit. (like a hundred dollar add on just to use wireless internet? No thanks...)
But yeah, I still think this is a dumb move all around, right up there with "the PSP go that doesn't play any of your old UMD games" and "the non backwards compatible Ps3" and let's not forget the "non-gba enabled DSi." People have gotten used to paying 50 bucks for a year of XBL, yeah it sucks but people have figured that it's worth it to play on the best multiplayer console platform out there. Raising the price ten bucks just adds another reason for people to reconsider buying a PS3 or a Wii or a gaming PC so they don't have to get nickled and dimed when it comes to online play.
Well personally I can understand the base line price of the £40 a year xbox live charge, and $10 is like £6 here? anyway the whole wireless adaptor is a huge joke, that should have already been built in. Yet I have both an xbox 360 and a PS3, but I only really use my PS3 now, and my friend uses the 360. Both COD:MW2 Players, He's paying alot more in yearly costs, Wireless adaptors and the rest of Microsoft's crap. But in my experience the online gaming experience is much better on the 360. Whether or not the fact that the community is more active shall we say with the mics and all, plus it takes forever to get a game on PSN where as I'm in almost instantly on Xbox Live, my connect goes real bad to the point where I time out and can't connect back to the PSN for an hour or so. This is my experience with it, but I'm still not decided whether or not it's worth the extra fees, maybe if I played more games online like I used to, then it would be.

It's just that I can get around all the other stuff. I use an ethernet cable to connect to LIVE, I honestly don't know why anyone would actually buy the wireless adapter, a wire isn't $100 worth of annoyance.
But with this price hike, either I say no more LIVE or I pay more. There's no way for me to play without paying more.

I recently renewed my subscription for a year...so I'm all set lol. By the time that runs out I might not even bother renewing it...depends on if I'm still playing live still...
