No, not really. What they want is ALL the rights, which basically would mean eventually, you if you use the game without permission in any way, you can be fined and/or imprisoned by local authorities if convicted. Same as piracy with in all else in the digital world. You see, the problem here I see is that in the piracy market, pirates are stealing movies, mp3's, etc. But never paying for it at all. In this case, you pay for rights on a game to play by way issuing you a key by the gaming company, you now can play and keep the game for life, unless they decide to shut down servers if played online, but you still own the game. But, what they want to lobby for, is you paying for the use of their games, but only for limited or specific time. The difference is that when that time is up you will not be able to run/launch the game in any way and if you succeed by other means, they will come down on you hard, because you will no longer own the game. They will probably win this lobby, because of so many piracy going on around the world today, Like Neo says, this dilemma has been bouncing around for years. It is more than what I speculate here. I think he bottom line is that gaming companies want to compete and/or with the more complex entertainment businesses, and believe this is there way there. Its like all of the sudden Microsoft wants to sell cars, there is nothing wrong with this, its just they shouldn't make you subscribe to anything first or throw you in jail if you fail to pay in time.
