I've never tried X3 Terran Conflict, but I did try the 14 day Trial for EVE Online. It was great at the start, but it got boring really fast. All you do is fly from system to system, blowing little ships up, which takes minimal effort.
Every mission I did was one to just fly to one system, and then fly back, and gain so many credits. There were some enemy encounters, sure, but they weren't fun.Some people are into that type of game though, so I suggest before you buy the game, try the 14 day trial here: Link
