It's also really bad manner to be in the left lane and going slow. It's an unspoken rule, but you only use the left lane for passing (going faster than) the right lane. If you ain't passing, get out of the left lane.

I would recommend Microsoft Security Essentials which is developed by Microsoft (as suggested by the name) and provides good compatible protection for what most are willing to pay (free).

Hopefully this has helped you secure your computer a little more. If you follow these basic steps, you can find that you actually need less of those 3rd party security programs and recover all that wasted CPU and RAM resources on those to more important things like work and games.

-Hardware enforce DEP uses a special CPU bit called the NX-bit (No eXecute) that marks special memory as read only. This stops infections exploiting memory flaws dead in its tracks regardless of patches or not. Not all CPUs have this ability

-Software enforced DEP monitors errors thrown by programs. Most programs can handle these errors without the user being alerted, but if an error does not "officially exists", Windows terminates the offending program immediately. Some infections are stopped this way.

DEP is enabled for windows functions only by default, but it is more secure to enable it for all programs. 90% of those fake anti-virus webpages are stopped dead by DEP! Did you know those websites exploit your machine by using memory that isn't supposed to be used by common programs? Some users who use ancient software may find that their programs may trigger these alerts and find their programs unusable. DEP offers the ability to turn DEP off for specific programs. Despite that minor setback, a majority of users will not see any compatibility issues with DEP. There is a good possiblity that DEP can interfere with CHU trainers so if you use them regularly, you can ignore this defense mechanism.
