The very point of the game is that you don't need action to tell a compelling story. The only way to achieve innovation in games is to support those games which do innovate, regardless of replayability. It's the essence of the free market. Innovation doesn't spring up on its own, there must be the promise of money.

If you denigrate it down merely because it lacks "replayability", you're going to be stuck with a dozen more crappy CoD clones. And with that attitude, maybe you should be playing console games instead.
