I'm thinking far beyond F1, dude. To design and build a motor, power train and gearbox for a micro car is far more impressive to a real-life employer than working solely with aerodynamics and aesthetics.
You do CO2 cars? Why not ones powered by little motors like the ones in model air planes? From an engineering prospective, it would provide another layer of challenge and a new skill set to add to the repertoire you can show a future employer.
