This guy in his early 30s with a sad face, an arm in a sling, with a missing leg...strapped to his horse in the rain...that may appear to be a sympathetic image.Until you consider that Hood thought he was the greatest general in the Confederacy, he thought he was unbeatable, he thought he was a legend, he connived against his peers and superiors to achieve levels of command he was never fit for, and he came as close to murdering his own soldiers as you get. No sympathy.
