I think your comics need to de-introduce characters...

You need to introduce some new characters. Not that you should abandon your main characters, but the "Something happens, Hyper makes a pun" formula is too easy.

But my car is tan, so when it's full of dirt it looks tan.

The problem was that it rained just a little bit--enough to mess up the layer of dirt and make it visible...but not enough to wash it off.
