Yeah, but on a TV show the guy listed as the writer is more like the editor on a book. They've probably got a half dozen writers working on a given script, and the guy credited is coordinating and compiling.
That scene went on for about ten times longer than it should have. Evidence that the writers are burned out, that the show will decline, that a repeat of the crappy Dr Who of the 1980s is starting now.

To be clear, I was looking for foreshortening, as it's using a slight angle to make the audience think that the gun is being shot directly into the camera (at them) when really the person is some distance away...the same principle applies to sideview mirrors on cars--objects in mirrors are closer than they appear, due to viewing them from an angle. But it is also breaking the fourth wall.
