Why does it suck?Where previous games in the series tried very hard to make it seem as if you could choose your own approach to situations, this one flatly tells you what you can do in any given situation; and it is almost always only one thing. And then there are points where the gamemakers simply don't give you the tools you need to resolve the situation in the manner they demand. As a result the gameplay is a relic of a bygone era. At this point in my life, I wanted to shoot gooey things in tunnels and then put three rockets into the forehead of the boss I'd just play Doom. In Crysis 1 and Warhead you at least had the novelty of the stealth suit and it was fun to play games with moderately intelligent Korean soldiers. But the novelty has warn off. And the AI which, at times, was actually kind of clever in Crysis is now bizarrely stupid in Crysis 2. Sniping guys is no longer any fun, because they run to the corpse you just created and stand there dumbfounded and allow you to pick them off one by one without reacting in any way. The story is derivative, cheesy and poorly written. The gimmicks are worn and dated and the scripted sequences are too frequent and annoying. It's just a tech demo with a few levels of game wrapped around it. And it's not even all that pretty when everything is maxed out. Why am I just getting to it? I got it in the latest Steam holiday sale for like five bucks... And just hadn't played it yet. I was drinking with some friends and a professor and he was talking about Crysis 3. So I figured it was time.
