First up, my family's strongly religious; Irish Catholic and all that. And as for the "Religion gives people a reason to hate each other" well, of course it does. Everything does. From skin color to culture to what sports team you root for, we'll always have things to argue about, even if religion ceased to exist. I don't believe God is perfect. Think about it, we're created in his image and look at how imperfect we are. I remember bringing that up junior year in theology class. (our teacher was a strict creationist, catholic through and through) And the debate lasted most the class. He argued that it was free will coupled with the temptations of Satan that caused us to be imperfect, and proposed that without the presence of Satan, we would be perfect. I argued that without evil, one can never know good because our intellect cannot comprehend something without it's diametric opposite. (we could never know what light is without darkness and vice versa) I then went on to say that if we were really created in God's image, then he can not exist without Satan, he needs him to counter himself and know who he is. I like to think I won that debate, I was really getting to him (our teacher) when the bell rang. And great read, insom. It really made me think. [Edited by Latiosmaster47, 2/5/2009 9:20:02 AM]
