WALKTHROUGH - FIELD OF ELYSIUM

A cutscene will trigger right as Kratos enters the fields from the temple. View Screenshot

ACTION CUTSCENE

>><< = Circle Button Tap

Kratos gives Calliope one final look as she stands by his side then he looks away from his daughter and >>GENTLY PUSHES HER AWAY<< in order to fulfill his duties to the gods. View Screenshot Calliope moves back toward Kratos with the shout of "Father!" as Kratos turns around to look at her then quickly looks away once again. With a bit more force Kratos places his hand on her chest and >>PUSHES AT CALLIOPE<< once again. Calliope moves away then quickly wraps her arms around her father once again with a shout of "Please!". With a solid will, Kratos looks down at his daughter and grabs her arm then >>PUSHES HER AWAY AND TO THE GROUND<<. "Father... Father, no!" rings through Kratos' ears as he gives up his current paradise in order to revert to the monster that he once was in order to save humanity.

Once the cutscene is over, Kratos must seek out the pure souls around the area and kill them all in order to get his strength back.

New Enemy: Pure Souls

Well, these technically aren't enemies. Kratos is more of the enemy in this case. Pure souls will move about the Elysium Fields in their white ghostly appearance. Kratos must simply run up to each one and grab it or attack it (once his blades of chaos have been restored). Kratos must kill all of the souls in the field to gain his powers back once again. View Screenshot

Run up to each of the pure souls in the field and grab them to make them release red orbs. Killing enough pure souls will allow Kratos to regain his strength. All the power along with the nightmares of his past must be regained in this field before leaving it. After the first few pure souls have been killed, Kratos will regain his blades of chaos. Hades soldiers will begin to attack Kratos in the fields at that point. Try to focus on killing off the rest of the pure souls with a simple strike from the blades of chaos and fight off the Hades soldiers with jumping Triangle hits if they try to interfere. The blades of chaos, The Efreet, Light of Dawn, the gauntlet of Zeus, charon's wrath - all powers will be restored as Kratos continues to kill pure souls then a cutscene will eventually trigger. View Screenshot After the cutscene, slaughter what remains of anything that moves on the field - use magic if you must since there is a refill up ahead. Once there is nothing more to kill then run toward the stairs in the back of the field.

The front of the stairs will seal off and Kratos will be trapped in the circular area as shield soldiers and archers appear. Run toward the archers and grab them as they spawn and continue to respawn. Defeat the shield soldiers then get ready to fight the tiger that will spawn after their defeat. View Screenshot The tiger can easily be taken down with charge attacks from the gauntlet - remember that each charge attack will stagger him so you can keep on hitting him without the worry of getting hit until he is defeated. Archers and a warrior wraith will attack in the final wave. Grab all the archers (they will respawn a bit) then use charge punches with the gauntlet of Zeus to easily take down the warrior wraith.

Use the --SAVE PILLAR-- up the stairs to save your game. View Screenshot Open the --GREEN CHEST-- or --BLUE CHEST-- if Kratos needs to refill his health or magic meter. This will not be Kratos final fight, but up the stairs is the final battle for Chains of Olympus so make any last minute adjustments that you may need then continue up the stairs to trigger a cutscene. Boss: Persephone

Attacks:

Ram - From up close, Persephone rams Kratos with her shoulders then performs a side punch to knock Kratos down.

Lunge - Persephone lunges at Kratos then hits him with both her shoulders and performs an overhead punch with both hands.

Concrete Stomp - Persephone stomps the ground and plows up a piece of concrete then kicks it toward the area directly in front of her.

First of all, all of Persephone's attacks cannot be guarded against. She will perform a lunge from far away that can be parried very easily with the sun shield so you might want to try to learn the timing. Press the L button right when she yells and this will parry the move every time. If you don't parry the move then roll to the side to avoid it. If Kratos keeps his distance from Persephone, she will constantly switch between her lunge and concrete stomp. To avoid the concrete stomp, simply move away from the area in front of her. She will kick the concrete piece towards the wall in front of her, so just stay away from that area and you won't even have to roll. Her only other attack is a ram that she will perform from up close. This is unblockable as well, so just keep your distance from her and she will not perform this move. Both hits of the close range attack can be parried with the sun shield but the timing is rather hard.

One way to go about beating her is to parry her lunge attack then run toward her while moving to her side (in order to avoid the concrete stomp) then hit her with a charged Triangle hit with the gauntlet. Hold down the button so that Kratos leaps into the air after the attack. Persephone will try to attack while Kratos is in the air, so charge an Olympic Thunder (L + Triangle) in mid-air then bring this move down upon her. The Olympic Thunder will usually cancel any attack that she is performing. Roll away immediately after the Olympic Strike. You can also run up to Persephone and perform this same string of attacks after dodging her lunge attack - you won't have to worry about the concrete stomp if you do this.

Light of Dawn's Radiant Sun (R + charge Square) works very well for taking her down fast from a distance. For instance, if you dodge her lunge attack you could charge a Radiant Sun and fire it off directly afterward. The Efreet's Demon Fury and Charon's Wrath work fairly well but Radiant Sun works the best. If you use Charon's Wrath be sure to get close to her and if you use Demon Fury with The Efreet, you need to try to trap her in a corner. Either way, you go about beating the wife of Hades, you must get in a few attacks (or just one attack) then roll away immediately or be prepared to deal with her counterattacks. One of the cheapest parts about this boss fight is that Persephone's moves will even hit Kratos while he is grounded, so avoiding any of her attacks is vital!

She will release green orbs and blue orbs once she has taken enough damage - she will do this about three times. Once only half of her health remains, Persephone will grab Kratos and an action cutscene will trigger.

Persephone flies into the air then swoops down and grabs Kratos by the neck. View Screenshot Seeing that Kratos is nearly broken by giving up Calliope, Persephone tries to influence him to "Go to her" as she waves her hand in front of his face and comforts Kratos in a black aura. !!"BE WITH HER", "LEAVE THIS WORLD BEHIND"!!. Persephone's words comfort and drain Kratos enough to make him fall to the ground silently, but Kratos is no fool. Upon hearing Persephone yell for Atlas, Kratos +ROLLS+ out of the way of Atlas' fist as Atlas pounds the concrete floor. Kratos quickly latches onto Atlas' hand with the blades of chaos. Atlas brings his hand back up and tries to smash Kratos against the ceiling but Kratos +RUNS+ along the titan's hand then falls from the other side and +PUNCHES+ the spike on Atlas' chain making it bind his left arm to the top of the world. View Screenshot Kratos continues to fall and +MOVES TO THE SIDE+ to avoid Atlas' fingers from his right hand. Kratos plows his blades into Atlas' palm then falls with one blade still attached and +PUNCHES+ the second spike on Atlas' arm so that it buries into the ceiling of the earth above the titan bounding his right hand to the earth above him. An enraged Persephone swoops by and grabs Kratos then tosses him back toward the area where the two fought. "You will not stop me" Persephone cries.

Attacks:

Light Sphere - Persephone holds up a greenish black ball of light then hurls it at Kratos.

Light Ray - Persephone holds out both arms then fires a light ray toward Kratos and follows him with the light ray for a few seconds or until the ray hits.

Light Geyser - Both of Persephone's arms glow and a black aura appears around her as she leans downward and summons forth greenish pillars of light that blasts forth from the ground around Kratos.

Healing Aura - Persephone falls to the ground. She wraps her wings around her then produces a greenish black energy field that recharges her health.

Kratos will have full life and magic once again as this portion of the battle begins. Persephone will stand on one of the broken pillars in the background for this battle. Notice the circle of light in the middle of the area - Kratos can use this to reflect light but there is no need for it right now. There is not much fighting involved this time around. Kratos must simply focus on avoiding her attacks for the most part. Whenever she shoots out a green light ray, run toward her then circle the current area to avoid the light ray.

In order to hit Persephone, her greenish black light spheres must be reflected through the Helios Reflect move of the sun shield. Tap the L button right before a light sphere makes contact with Kratos to deflect her projectile attack. This will make Persephone fall and hang off of her current pillar. At that time, you are free to run up to her and hit her with charge punches from the gauntlet (jump then hit her with a charged Triangle attack and charged Square attack in one jump) or stand back and charge a Radiant Sun with the Light of Dawn and hurl a few of those at her. Try to get in plenty of attacks before she pulls herself up. The Light of Dawn can actually hit her while she is still on the pillar, but you risk getting hit while doing this.

Eventually, she will move to another pillar. She will summon forth light geysers. View Screenshot Watch for the greenish black circles to form on the ground around Kratos then move away from them. Don't just circle the platform - watch for the glowing circles then run away from them then look out for the next glowing circle. If the light geysers every pin Kratos down then roll! Reflect her light sphere again. This time she will reflect it back at you, so you must prepare to reflect the projectile right back at her. After a few reflections she will fall once again. Run over to her and hit her with mid-air charge punches from the gauntlet or stand back and perform a few Radiant Suns to drain her life gauge.

She will eventually move to another pillar. Nothing really changes this time, but she will not be hit as easily with a reflected projectile for the rest of the battle, so prepare to get into a long game of reflecting in order to finish her off. Toward the end of the battle she will mainly perform her other attacks instead of her light sphere, so be ready to dodge her attacks while waiting for her to throw a light sphere.

Once Persephone falls from her current pillar, she will attempt one final move. She will wrap her wings around herself as a greenish black aura surrounds her. View Screenshot At this time, run toward the center glowing circle in the middle of this area and press the L button to reflect light off of the shield. Tap the Circle button to bathe Persephone in yellow light to finish her off. View Screenshot If she is allowed to finish this move then she will heal one quarter of her life and you will be forced to fight her in order to drain her once again. An action cutscene will follow once the Circle button is tapped enough after Kratos shines light on her.

ACTION CUTSCENE

++ = random button tap

Kratos bathes the wife of Hades in Helios' sunlight. Persephone cries out then walks toward Kratos while saying "I am a goddess" but Kratos answers by +PUSHING HER BACK+ with the ray of light making her fall back. Persephone struggles with the light while walking forth. "I am a queen" is heard from Persephone as Kratos +BOUNCES HER BACK+ with more light which causes her to fall back once again. In one final attempt, Persephone fights through the light, "I am a..." Kratos blasts the goddess with light once again then runs up to her to deliver the final blow.

The ending cutscene will play once the action cutscene is over then the credits will roll. View Screenshot Don't turn off the game just yet since another cutscene will follow. View Screenshot Your data will be automatically saved after the credits in order to have the option to play a "Bonus Game" once a new game is started and an already beaten difficulty is chosen. A bonus game will allow you to keep all of your weapons and powerups from your last playthrough. Kratos will start the game already powered up.
